Weather Station Guide is an independently operated website about choosing, installing, using and maintaining weather stations. This policy explains how information is handled when you visit WeatherStationGuide.com or contact the site. For privacy questions or requests, please use the contact form.
Information you provide
The contact form asks for your name, email address, subject and message. Information you submit, and subsequent correspondence, is used to respond to your enquiry, investigate a reported problem or correction, and maintain a record of that exchange. The website’s hosting, email and spam-protection services may process information needed to deliver and protect those communications.
Please provide only information relevant to your enquiry. Do not send passwords, payment details, precise home-location information or other sensitive information through the form.
Weather Station Guide does not currently operate a newsletter. Public comments are disabled. Purchases made after following a retailer link are handled by that retailer, rather than through a checkout on this site.
Website operation and security
Visiting a website involves sending technical information, such as an IP address, requested page, browser/device information and request time, to the servers delivering it. Weather Station Guide uses SiteGround hosting, caching and delivery services, and security tools including Wordfence and SiteGround Security Optimizer. These services may process request information and security events to deliver pages, detect abuse, diagnose faults and protect the website.
Backups may contain information stored in the website’s database and files. UpdraftPlus is configured to back up the site to Dropbox. Administration and maintenance tools may also have access to site data when performing their functions. These operational uses are separate from advertising and analytics.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies are small files stored by a browser. Scripts and similar technologies can also transmit information or store and read identifiers. The site uses third-party services for advertising, analytics and spam protection; those services may use cookies or similar technologies. Administrative login and security functions may also use cookies.
A cookie or identifier is not necessarily anonymous. Its use and duration depend on the service, browser settings and applicable privacy choices. Blocking cookies may affect some functions and does not necessarily prevent every request to a third-party service.
Google advertising
Weather Station Guide displays advertising through Google AdSense. Google and other advertising vendors may use cookies to serve ads based on previous visits to this site or other websites. Google’s advertising cookies allow Google and its partners to personalize advertising using visits across websites. Ad processing depends on the applicable settings, consent and other privacy choices.
The site uses Google’s Privacy & Messaging consent and opt-out interfaces. Google’s advertising and analytics consent integration is enabled. The optional AdSense Limited Ads setting is disabled. This does not mean that every Google connection stops before a choice or after a refusal: Google’s consent interface and related service resources still need to load.
You can manage Google personalized-ad choices through My Ad Center. Information about participating companies’ advertising choices is available through YourAdChoices. These controls do not necessarily remove advertising or stop all advertising-related data processing.

Google Analytics 4 (GA4)
Weather Station Guide uses Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors find and use the site and to improve its content. Depending on configuration and privacy choices, analytics can include page views, referral information, interactions, device/browser information and approximate geographic information. Analytics may use browser identifiers and cookies and can collect usage information automatically.
The site is configured to use Basic Consent Mode for GA4: its analytics tags are held until Google’s applicable analytics-consent signal permits loading. In the European consent flow, rejecting analytics consent keeps those tags from loading, and withdrawing consent triggers a page reload to apply the changed choice. Where Google reports that the consent requirement does not apply, analytics may operate without a prior opt-in. An advertising opt-out is separate from ordinary audience measurement. This analytics configuration does not block every other Google or third-party service.
The site’s integration is configured to restrict Google advertising-related analytics signals when Google reports a US advertising opt-out or the browser supplies a Global Privacy Control signal. These choices do not delete information previously collected or necessarily remove existing cookies from your browser.
Google provides information about Analytics cookie use and the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The add-on is not a control for every other service used on this site.
Regional privacy choices
For the EEA, United Kingdom and Switzerland, the site is configured to offer Google’s Consent, Do not consent and Manage options message. The message explains the purposes and participating vendors. Its device-storage choice also controls analytics storage. Where this message applies, use Privacy choices at the bottom of the page to reopen it and change or withdraw your choice.
For US states supported by Google’s message, the site is configured to provide Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information. This control lets you opt out of the relevant Google advertising use; after an opt-out, the site displays a confirmation for that browser. It is not a control that disables every service or all analytics on the site. Google’s messaging interface may also provide its own privacy control.
Google states that it applies restricted data processing to advertising requests carrying Global Privacy Control signals in applicable US states. A GPC signal and the Google advertising choices do not establish that every independent third-party resource on this site follows the same signal. In particular, the legacy Amazon component described below is not connected to this Google consent integration.
The configuration and consent-interface behavior have been checked, but regional network requests, storage behavior and end-to-end GPC enforcement have not been independently verified across the covered regions. These controls should not be understood as a guarantee that rejection prevents every cookie, storage operation or third-party connection.
Choices are associated with the browser and the information available to the consent service. You may need to make a choice again after clearing site data, switching browsers or devices, or when the message or applicable requirements change. You can also use the contact form for privacy requests.
Amazon affiliate links and external resources
Weather Station Guide participates in Amazon Associates. Qualifying links identify this site as the referring associate. Amazon may use cookies and other technologies to attribute referrals and qualifying purchases when you interact with Amazon links or services. Some product images are delivered from Amazon’s servers, so a connection to Amazon can occur while viewing a page, before you follow a shopping link. Articles also retain a legacy Amazon advertising script that can attempt a connection to Amazon. The Google consent and opt-out integration does not control that script or all externally hosted product images.

Articles also link to manufacturer documentation, YouTube videos and other external resources. Following a link takes you to a service with its own privacy practices. A link to a video is different from an automatically loaded video player.
Spam protection and externally hosted assets
Google reCAPTCHA helps protect the contact form from automated abuse. Its contact-form scripts are restricted to the contact flow rather than loaded throughout the site. The service processes information used to distinguish legitimate activity from automated requests and may use cookies. Google’s Privacy Policy and Terms of Service apply to reCAPTCHA.
The site’s Poppins typography files are hosted on this website. Google’s own messaging and other service interfaces may still load fonts and resources from Google, and some article images remain on external servers. When a browser requests external resources, the resource provider receives the technical information needed to process the request. This is distinct from submitting a contact message or clicking an affiliate link.
How long information is kept
Retention differs by system. The site operator has not established a formal retention period for contact correspondence; no automatic deletion period was confirmed. You can ask about, or request deletion of, information you have submitted using the contact form below.
UpdraftPlus is configured for daily file and database backups and retention of the 30 most recent backup sets. That setting is not a guarantee that every copy of information is deleted after 30 days. Wordfence’s Live Traffic settings limit that log to 2,000 rows and a maximum age of 30 days; other security and hosting logs may follow different settings. The retention settings for GA4, hosting/server logs and separate or manually retained backups have not been confirmed. These systems do not share a confirmed retention period.
Information may need to be retained to resolve a security incident, handle a dispute or meet a legal obligation. Copies in backups may remain until those backups are replaced or deleted.
Your choices and requests
Use the applicable privacy controls described above, your browser’s controls to restrict or delete cookies, and the provider controls linked in this policy. Browser settings and provider controls do not necessarily prevent every external request.
Depending on the law that applies to your information, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion or a copy of information, restrict or object to certain processing, or withdraw consent where processing relies on it. These rights have conditions and exceptions. You may also be entitled to complain to a relevant privacy regulator.
Use the contact form to make a request, describing the information or interaction concerned. Please do not send identity documents unless an appropriate verification method has been agreed. Requests concerning information held independently by Google, Amazon or another provider may also need to be directed to that provider.
Service providers, transfers and disclosures
Information may be processed by providers involved in hosting, delivery, email, security, backups, advertising and analytics, as described above. Providers may operate servers in countries other than the visitor’s country. The linked provider policies explain their international processing practices.
Information may also be disclosed when required by law or reasonably necessary to address fraud, abuse or a security incident. Advertising-related disclosures can fall within a legal definition of “sale” or “sharing,” even when no money is paid directly for the information.
